Faith-Inspired Services Serving Communities Across the U.S.
Our Mission and Purpose
Founded in 1916, UCH began its mission at a time of ethnic discrimination, poverty and pandemic. There were no safety nets for the poor or older adults like there are today. Over the years, people and situations have changed, but our mission has remained the same: To provide quality, affordable housing and healthcare options to older adults.
Today, United Church Homes is a leading provider of healthcare and senior living services. Our mission? To transform aging by building a culture of community, wholeness and peace for those we are privileged to serve.

Our Vision
United Church Homes enjoys faith-inspired ties with the United Church of Christ. The UCH vision —where the Spirit creates Abundant Life in Community — encourages new ways of thinking and talking about aging. Simply put, UCH celebrates older adults! We’re evolving care and living options to appeal to a new generation of people living longer, more active lives after retirement.
- We help UCH residents define what Abundant Living means with a commitment to:
- Drive conversations about the way people think about and experience aging.
- Lead culture change. UCH is moving beyond institutional-directed care to person-directed care — promoting choice, dignity, respect, self-determination and purposeful living for older adults.
- Be an inclusive and equitable provider of healthcare and housing services for older adults of diverse backgrounds
- Practice our core values to support diversity, build equity, and seek justice as a core part of our ministry in the world.
UCH opened our first “home for the aged” in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, in 1916. Today, United Church Homes owns or manages more than 90 communities in 15 states and two tribal nations. We provide affordable housing, independent living, assisted living, long-term care, fast track rehab, home health, NaviGuide, home care, hospice, skilled nursing and memory care to thousands of older adults, daily.
Transforming Senior Living
United Church Homes actively advocates for older adults. Our education efforts and community partnerships are transforming the future of aging. The servant leadership culture is strongly embedded within the UCH team. For example, the I LIVE It program ensures every staff member embodies our hospitality philosophy.
