The closing date for the communities was April 26. The final price for Gateway Commons, Columbus, Mississippi, and Boardtown Village, Starkville, Mississippi, is undisclosed, per an agreement between United Church Homes and National Church Residences, the largest national nonprofit provider of senior housing and services based in Upper Arlington, Ohio.
“We are excited about adding Gateway Commons and Boardtown Village to the United Church Homes family. We look forward to providing quality senior living services and expanding our mission, vision and values in Mississippi,” said Rev. Kenneth Daniel, president and CEO of United Church Homes.
The newly acquired communities expand United Church Homes’ footprint to 74 communities in 14 states and two Native American nations. The nonprofit, faith-based organization operates and manages 12 senior living communities in Ohio, Michigan and Tennessee. With the acquisition of the two new communities, UCH has expanded its affordable housing portfolio to include 61 communities.
Gateway Commons was built in 1994 and Boardtown Village in 1985.
“We are happy to expand our mission in Mississippi,” said Cheryl Wickersham, vice president of housing services at United Church Homes. “The location fit our geographic footprint and there’s a lot of need in Mississippi for high-quality, affordable housing for older adults.
“We welcome those staff and residents into our United Church Homes family.”
