CANAL FULTON — Chapel Hill Community held a groundbreaking ceremony on June 4 to celebrate the impending construction of 12 brand new residential cottages that are being designed and built as independent living accommodations for seniors. The new condos will add 12 units to the existing 29-unit Kroft Commons that have been serving the community since 2000.

The $1.8 million capital project was recently approved by the board of directors of United Church Homes, the Marion (Ohio)-based nonprofit organization which owns and operates Chapel Hill. The new condos will be available for occupancy in late October/early November.

“The Chapel Hill Community gives residents the best of both worlds, allowing people to live independently in Kroft Commons, and confident that there is excellent skilled nursing care right next door. There is nothing like it in Canal Fulton or anywhere near here. We put people first. It’s the most important part of what we do,” say Debra Durbin, administrator of Chapel Hill Community.
